Playa La Barqueta has the best surf near David, with various beach breaks.

Playa Sandía. Serious surfers will want to go west of La Barqueta to Playa Sandía, which has a beach break and a long right in front of the estuary at the west end of the beach. Playa La Barqueta.

Punta Burica. Few surfers get to isolated Punta Burica, a three-hour trip down the beach south from Puerto Armuelles. It's accessible only at low tide and with a 4WD vehicle. Playa La Barqueta.
