Bocas del Toro Archipelago Places

Macca Bite

The southernmost point on Isla Bastimento has an odd name, and its origin is as mysterious as Bocas del Toro's, though the theory is that wild macaws once lived there (there are now tame ones at the eponymous lodge). That hilly headland hemmed by mangroves and draped with lush rain forest is a mere 30 minutes from Bocas by boat, yet it feels like the end of the world. Far from the nearest road or streetlight, it is a place where Mother Nature still reigns, where dolphins swim and monkeys roam. The point has two lodges on it that provide constant exposure to nature—one at the edge of the sea, and one at the top of the hill—as well as restaurants that can reward you with a cold beer and fresh seafood after a hard morning of snorkeling.
