Casa Lecanda Review

From the moment you step off the busy streets and into the cool lobby, you're wrapped in European grandeur amid the decor of checkered tiles, long-stem roses, and ruby walls at this, Mérida's most luxurious boutique hotel. Wrought-iron chandeliers and antique furniture pay tribute to a bygone era, while the photographs of modern-day Mérida bring you back to the present. The pool, more of a showpiece than an ideal place to swim, serves as the focal point of the property, and sits beside a patio of suspended hammocks. Each room is unique, though beds with huge white duvets and spacious bathrooms with glass-enclosed rainfall showers are standard. The two rooms on the top floor have private balconies, the perfect spot to drink your welcome tamarind margarita. Be sure to try the restaurant (make your reservation 24 hours in advance), since this is probably one of the best meals you'll have in Merida. Note that while the intimate and homey Casa Lecanda is custom made for romantics, children 12 and older are welcome.
