Hacienda Sacnicte Review

Located three miles north of town, the hacienda (whose name means white flower) dates from 1811, but it's been restored to strike a perfect balance between the old and new with beautifully appointed suites and spacious bathrooms. The dramatic yet warm suites have been decorated with contemporary paintings, antique mirrors, polished cement floors, and exotic handcrafted Mexican furnishings. The bathrooms have vanity areas and walk-in showers built with Mayan stones. Be sure to take a tour of the sprawling grounds landscaped with bougainvillea, hibiscus, tamarind, and lime and orange trees. The patio hammocks are great for an afternoon nap after a dip in the pool. Meals are served on the veranda at the 14-person mahogany table or in the original capilla (chapel). Despite the modern touches throughout the property, the owners have managed to maintain much of the historical integrity, including the old murals in the dining room. The entire 10-bedroom hacienda can be rented by the half or full week.
