La Antigua
This sleepy little village, given its name ("The Old Town") by the Spaniards after they abandoned it, was the conquistadors' capital for 75 years. They left La Antigua in 1599 after founding Veracruz City. A small community still lives here, however, and they are justifiably proud of the treasures their village holds.
