Cusárare Review

In the middle of the main plaza a collective of tour guides specializes in day trips to areas of interest around Creel. Many half-day tours include a visit to Cusarare, whose Tarahumara name means "eagle's nest." Located 26 km (16 mi) from Creel, the village is the site of a Jesuit mission built in 1741, which still serves as a center for religious and community affairs for the Tarahumara people. Inside the simple whitewashed structure men and women stand for the Sunday service, women on one side, men on the other.
