A private mansion built in the 17th century is now a charming hotel one block from the Plaza de Armas. In the original section, rooms surround an elegant patio with a large fountain and massive bougainvilleas. Smaller, plainer, and quieter rooms are in the newer section. Rooms on Calle Ocampo get loud traffic noise. Pros: Inexpensive, with a relaxing patio where you'll forget all about city noise. Cons: Tiny bathrooms and showers. Some rooms unacceptably small.
