Biblioteca Pública Gertrudis Bocanegra

Biblioteca Pública Gertrudis Bocanegra Review

Juan O'Gorman painted a vast mural depicting the history of the region and of the Purépecha people in the back of this library in 1942. At the bottom right is Gertrudis Bocanegra, a local heroine who was shot in 1814 for refusing to divulge the revolutionaries' secrets to the Spaniards. The Biblioteca is on a lively plaza.
