Mezzanine

Why We Like It

We like the intimacy that comes with having only 9 rooms on the premises. We love the fact that neither the pool, nor the beach are the main characters of the well-defined personality of Mezzanine. Finally, we love the refined cuisine, the exotic drinks and the Master Suite design.

Hip luxury boutique hotel surrounded by mangroves and a gorgeous stretch of white-sand beach, located just a 5-minute drive north from the amazing Mayan ruins of Tulum. Room

At Mezzanine there are only 9 rooms and three categories: Master Suite (with ocean views), Sea View Room and Non View Room. Décor on all of them could been defined as beach bohemian chic, in a mostly white ambience with tropical wood furniture and some red elements. Sea View rooms come with a wooden spiral staircase with a little loft area on top to enjoy magnificent ocean or jungle views. The Master Suite on its part, is a delightful piece of design on its own.

You Should Know Notwithstanding its extraordinary success of the last few years, Tulum’s Hotel Zone is still an under-developed area, which means that hotels have to generate their own electricity. Rooms at Mezzanine now enjoy air conditioning, but don’t expect TV or even cell phone service. That’s part of Tulum’s charm, right?

Bathroom

Between the Master Suite bathroom and the bedroom there is no wall at all, just a little curtain to cover up the shy guest in the circular polished-concrete bathtub. These rooms include double bathroom-sink and rainfall shower too. The rest of the rooms come with no tub and only one sink. They all enjoy luxury Bulgari toiletries.

Lobby

The short walk from the entrance of Mezzanine to the actual front-desk is filled with Buddha sculptures and oriental-themed décor. The front-desk is located in a cozy outdoor area, with polished-concrete circular tables to chill while waiting for your room to be ready.

Pool

A small swimming pool with waterfall at one of its ends is all that’s needed to freshen-up at Mezzanine. The deep Emerald-green color of the pool gives it a lagoon look, accentuated by the stones and vegetation that surround it. A small garden between the pool and the beach offers a single lounge bed and there is a small sitting area under the nearby coconut trees too.

Dining

Gastronomy is one of the definite highlights of Mezzanine, with a menu designed and supervised by celebrity Thai Chef Dim Geefay, who brings the delicious flavors of her own country and mixes them with Mexican ingredients creating a fusion cuisine of stunning results. The ocean front restaurant is open all-day up to 10 pm. A delicious touch of intimacy and good taste are the gorgeous breakfast baskets delivered every morning to your room.

Drinking

With a Master Mixologist with experience at the London and New York bar scenes also on board, Mezzanine cements its reputation as a one of the hippest hotels in the area. A wide array of exotic cocktails can be tasted while enjoying stunning views of the Caribbean in a classy hardwood-floor deck.

Tip Martinis are the specialty of the house, but Margaritas are the most popular cocktails thanks to its daily happy hour. However, if you want to be bold and adventurous, try the Burnt by the Sun cocktail with tamarind and pressed habanero pepper. A true delicacy but not for all.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Just a 95-minute drive away from the Cancun International Airport, Mezzanine hotel is situated in the northern part of Tulum that will let you enjoy on foot all the attractions around. If you want to explore the southern part, you will need a cab or a bike.

Restaurants

The hotel restaurant is quite a hit, but there are plenty of other interesting options in the immediate area. La Colifata (8-minute drive) is an obligatory stop in Tulum with Argentinian, Latin and Spanish fresh and delicious menu, and cozy setting. Restaurant Sa Tuna (18-minute drive) is another place that you shouldn’t miss; you will get there the best Paella in Mexico.

Bars

Ciel Rose Sunset Bar (5-minute drive) is the bar that you don’t know if you came to enjoy the cocktails or the views; both are spectacular. Kiki (15-minute drive) is a really impressive bar hidden behind an unimpressive entrance; and great music.
