Puerto Vallarta Restaurants

Mamá Rosa Review

Locals return over and over for the expansive breakfast buffet (served until 2 pm, but freshest before noon) and, in the evening, for budget gourmet meals. Recommended main dishes include the nut-crusted salmon served on a bed of asparagus and thin sliced potatoes, shrimp medallions in pineapple and chipotle chili sauce, lamb meatballs in red wine sauce, and Mamá Rosa special chicken, stuffed with chorizo and spinach on a bed of beans. Ingredients are reassuringly recognizable but uniquely combined. Presentation is also a work of art, proving that a beautifully designed dish isn't the sole province of restaurants with high prices and small portions. The setting is pleasant but not fancy; upper and lower patios are surrounded by plenty of plants.
