Peyote People Review

Here the Huichol are treated as a people, not a product. At their downtown Vallarta shop, the owners— a Mexican-Canadian couple—are happy to share with customers their wealth of info about Huichol art and culture. They work with just a few farming families, providing all the materials and then paying for the finished product.

    Peyote People Review

Some of the finest native art to be found in Vallarta!!

Their slogan - "Native Art with Soul" - and it sure is an apt description of the products they display and sell.

Peyote People is a small gallery featuring selections of Oaxacan (wood carvings, black clay pottery, and etc.), Huichol (bead art, yarn paintings, and etc.), and other native arts and crafts, from some of the best artists. I have always enjoyed browsing the gallery and chatting with the friendly and knowledgeable owners (Beatriz and Kevin Simpson).

Walking into Peyote People offers much temptation to buy - there are so many beautiful, and unique pieces to behold. And thanks to the owners (and staff), a visit to the gallery is richly-rewarded with information and knowledge the owners can, and are so willing to share, about the artists and products they feature and sell.

For us, a visit to Peyote People is a 'must do and see' experience during every Vallarta stay!! And the crafts we have purchased there over the years, keep memories alive between trips.
