Hikuri Review

Near the north end of Banderas Bay, Hikuri is run by a British couple that pays asking prices to their Huichol suppliers and employs indigenous men in the adjoining carpentry and screen-printing shops. The men initially have little or no experience, and the jobs give them a leg up to move on to more profitable work. The excellent inventory includes fine yarn paintings large and small, beaded bowls and jewelry, and feathered prayer wands. An on-site patio restaurant called Abalón (closed Wed. and 2–6 pm) gives another reason to visit, offering international dishes and sometimes live music.

    Hikuri Review

Here long before La Cruz became popular, Hikuri sold and continues to sell wonderful Huichol yarns paintings of all sizes, and excellent bead work as well. They also have nice T-shirts with Huichol designs. There's always something new afoot; last time I was there, they had opened a seafood restaurant on the outdoor patio, with live music in the evenings.
