Open since late 2005, the Puerto Vallarta Zoo is home to some 450 animals representing the different continents. The zoo's captive breeding program means you'll see baby emus, kitten-like Bengal tigers, and tiny little capuchin monkeys, among other species. Plants are also being cultivated for reintroduction in areas that have been damaged by mining or other industries.Five of the 64 hectares have been developed. Currently there's a restaurant on site and parking at no additional charge. The $80 VIP tour, available through advance reservation for up to 10 people (English or Spanish), includes face time with interesting animal species, a T-shirt, and a meal.
