Contiguous with Guayabitos, La Peñita, at the north end of the bay, has fewer hotels and the beach is often nearly abandoned except for a few fishermen. Its name means "little rock." The center for area business, La Peñita has banks, shoe stores, and ice-cream shops; a typical market held each Thursday offers knock-off CDs, polyester clothing, and fresh fruits and vegetables.
