Zona Hotelera

Fodor's Review:

The high-rise-backed Zona Hotelera have several names—Playa Las Glorias to the south, Playa Los Tules in the middle (around the Holiday Inn and Fiesta Americana), and Playa El Salado to the north. Most people, however, just refer to each beach by the hotel that it faces. These gray-beige, coarse-sand beaches are generally flat with a slope down to the water. Major winds and tides sometimes strew them with stones that make it less pleasant. (The Sheraton and its beachfront, at the south end of the strip, were hit hard by Hurricane Kenna in 2002, and in 2005 tons of sand were trucked in. The beach in front of it is therefore sandier than its neighbors, although still pocked with smooth, egg-size rocks.)
