Both fun and modern, Los Xitomates has bright white tablecloths and oxidized, cutout-figure wall sconces. This hip, tranquil place in the heart of downtown is worth a try if you want an upscale ambience and variations on traditional Mexican dishes. Some recipes, like the tomato soup, leave a little to be desired. Winners include the tortilla soup (a classic) and the rib-eye steak sautéed with wild mushrooms and seasoned with the distinctive herb epazote. Chef-owner Luis Fitch, of Oaxaca, is amenable to fixing meals for Rastafarians, Orthodox Jews, or others with specific dietary requirements, preferably with advance notice. High ceilings make it noisy when crowded and echoy at other times.

GOOD:
Great atmosphere.
Extensive wine list.
Friendly service.
Steak was good.
Presentation nice.
BAD:
incessant up selling.
Describing one item as, "The part that went bad on a corn stalk."
corked wine: "that's just how it is"
Too expensive for the quality of the food.

Simply what we all want for a vacation night!
Every thing straight to the point, no long waiting, delicious food and wines and the best of all... you feel very good!

Our family has been going to PV for over 25 years so we have been to many restaurants and this is one has been added to our favorites list. This restaurant is by far one of the best newer restaurants in town. The food is interesting and of high quality. The atmosphere upscale but not stuffy. Great place for adults and older children. Not so many choices for younger children. We have eaten here 6 or 7 times and have never had a bad meal.

This was our second time at this restaurant, good service and food. Had good bottle of Mexican white wine. Would go again.
