Fodor's Review

Silky sheets and cozy down duvets, multiple ceiling fans, and large flat-screen TVs are a few of the creature comforts that set Velas apart from the rest. Each large living area has two comfortably wide built-in couches in colorful prints and a round dining table. Huichol cross-stitch tapestries and modern Mexican art decorate the walls. Studios and one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites have the same amenities except that the studios don't have balconies or beach views.

Tall palms, pink bougainvillea, and wild ginger with brilliant red plumes surround the three enormous pools. This is a perfect destination for those who want to relax on-site, as the hotel offers tennis clinics, arts and crafts, theme nights, and lots of other activities.
