Pricing

We give high-season prices before meals or other amenities. Low-season rates usually drop 20%-30%. We always list the available facilities, but we don't specify whether they cost extra.

Less expensive hotels include tax in the quote. Most higher-priced resorts add 17% tax on top of the quoted rate; some add a 5%-10% service charge. Moderately priced hotels swing both ways. You might be charged extra for paying with a credit card. Tax and/or tips are often included with all-inclusive plans, making a $$$$ property affordable.

An all-inclusive (AI) might make you reluctant to spend money elsewhere. So you don't miss out on area restaurants and activities, stay at more modest digs for part of your trip, and go AI for a day or two. Many AI hotels have day passes ($50-$75).
