Playa Puerto Angelito

Fodor's Review:

Don't confuse the delightful cove of Puerto Angelito, home to both the eponymous beach as well as equally lovely Manzanillo Beach, with the small port town south of Puerto Escondido. Ten steps from the street put you on the white sand of Playa Puerto Angelito, where the shallow depth of the water gives it a luminous, green-blue tint. It's a good spot for swimming, snorkeling, and diving, though the number of boats moored close to shore sometimes shrinks the swimming area considerably. While swimming, beware of water taxis and skiffs offering fishing and sightseeing. Many thatch-roofed restaurants here offer simple fare and shade and rent snorkels and umbrellas—the latter cost $5 or $6 whether you sit for 10 minutes or all day. Things get quite crowded on holidays and weekends.
