Playa Manzanillo

Fodor's Review:

Of Puerto Escondido's seven beaches, Playa Manzanillo, which rings Puerto Angelito, is one of the safest for swimming. It's also one of the best for snorkeling, with a sandy ocean floor, some rock and coral formations, and calm, clear water. You can reach this beach on foot (a 15-minute walk west of town), by taxi (less than $2 per ride), or by boat ($3 per person one way) from Playa Marinero. There is a short staircase down to the beach that is difficult for some people to navigate. Informal snack shops selling juices, sodas, and beer—and, when available, fresh fish and oysters—rent snorkeling equipment and Boogie boards for $4 per hour. You can use their showers and rustic bathrooms for a small fee. The beach is lined with lounge chairs and can get quite crowded on weekends.
