Tlacolula

Fodor's Review:

Although most often visited during its bustling Sunday market, Tlacolula, 31 km (19 mi) east of Oaxaca on Carretera 190, makes an interesting stop midweek. While you're here, visit the baroque-style Capilla del Santo Cristo, a chapel dating from the 16th century. There are many inexpensive and tasty places in town, so it's a good place to stop for food on the way between Oaxaca and Mitla.
