Ocotlán

Fodor's Review:

Revered for its handcrafted knives and machetes, Ocotlán is a large town, 30 km (18 mi) south of Oaxaca on Carretera 175, with a beautifully restored church and monastery on an attractive main plaza. Buses from the second-class station depart for Ocotlán and the surrounding villages every 15 minutes or so. You can also take an Estrella del Valle bus from the terminal at the corner of on Calle Armenta and Calle Lopez. It costs about $1 each way. Or, catch a taxi for about $1.50 each way; the ride is 35 minutes.
