The emphasis at this resort is on fun; there's a kids' club to entertain the youngsters while the grown-ups play tennis or relax by the pool. The rate includes most outdoor activities—a good deal if you want to do more than just work on your tan. The light-filled guest rooms have plenty of space in which to spread out. During the low season, Gala allows nonguests to spend the day or evening on the property—with unlimited food, drink, and activities—for a per-person rate of $80 all day. Pros: Nice beachfront, excellent service, good for families. Cons: Not as tranquil as other spots, rooms are nothing special, a bit pricey.
