This little restaurant east of Parque Paseo Juárez is packed with locals—sometimes there's not a tourist in sight—who appreciate the traditional fare like enchiladas suizas (with sour cream) and the rock-bottom prices. It's a 10-minute walk from the zócalo. You'll know you're there when you spot the huge green eyes on the side of the building.

Assuming that you're the type who wouldn't dream of eating at McDonald's in Oaxaca...and you're looking for a great meal surrounded by locals, walk the extra few minutes to Biche Pobre. For my money, it's the best bet in town.
