The simple bungalows at this eco-friendly hideaway are scattered around a wooded canyon. There are even simpler rooms on several floors of the rambling main house. There's no hot water, but there are nice touches like lamps carved to resemble jaguars and other beasts. Massages and yoga classes are offered—we recommend yoga on a terrace overlooking the ocean. The thatched-roof restaurant is a find for vegetarians, who sometimes hike over from other hotels. Pros: Good value, great yoga classes, nice views of bay. Cons: Some steep steps to climb, five-minute walk to beach.
