Just beyond Bacalar is Mexico's largest sinkhole, Cenote Azul, 607 feet in diameter, with clear blue waters that afford unusual visibility even at 200 feet below the surface. With all its underwater caves, the cenote (open daily 8 to 6, and 8 to 8 during high season) attracts divers who specialize in this somewhat tricky type of dive.
