Laguna de Bacalar

Fodor's Review:

Seawater and freshwater mix in the 56-km-long (35-mi-long) Laguna de Bacalar, intensifying the aquamarine hues that have earned it the nickname of Lago de los Siete Colores (Lake of the Seven Colors). Drive along the lake's southern shores to enter the affluent section of the town of Bacalar, with elegant waterfront homes. Also in the vicinity are a few hotels and campgrounds.
