While vacationing in the area, Canadian expats Carol Tumer and Alan Knight missed their turnoff to Punta Allen and ended up spending the night in Majahual. The next day they bought the property and built this stunning small hotel. They have exceeded all expectations in their ecologically sustainable practices. In addition to generating power with solar panels and wind generators, they use water-saving toilets and they compost all of the waste from the hotel. Since they have no septic tanks underground, they can be sure that none of their waste leaks into the sea. All of the cool and spacious rooms here face a quiet stretch of beach. They have tile floors and Mexican and Guatemalen bedding and handicrafts. Breakfast and kayak equipment are included in the cost of the room.
