Fodor's Review:

Once of Playa's first hotels, the Blue Parrot opened in 1984; its success has led to the opening of two sister properties, Blue Parrot Suites and Blue Parrot 5th Avenue. The spacious rooms at the original hotel have luxurious details such as mahogany-and-glass sliding doors and chic Tommy Bahama accessories. The hotel complex includes a restaurant and a bar, adjoined by a common room beneath a towering beachfront palapa, where amber sconces sit atop zapote beams for a romantic effect. You can happily kick off your shoes here—the floor is made of sand. Pros: Yucatán bath products; lively bar; spic-and-span facilities. Cons: drab decor in suites; poor service; beach views only on top floor.
