Paseo Bahía, Chetumal's main thoroughfare, runs along the water for several miles. A walkway runs parallel to this road and is a popular gathering spot at night. If you follow the road it turns into the Carretera Chetumal-Calderitas and, after 16 km (11 mi), leads to the small ruins of Oxtankah. Archaeologists believe this city's prosperity peaked between AD 300 and 600. It's open daily 8 to 5; admission is $3.
