Fodor's Review

The San Carlos collection, housed in a handsome, 18th-century, neoclassical stone building with a stunning open-air oval courtyard, is an important collection of European art, primarily paintings and prints, with a few examples of sculpture and decorative arts. In small rooms off the patio the works are grouped by period and style: Renaissance, baroque, rococo, neoclassicism, naturalism, romanticism, impressionism, and realism. The museum holds seminars, workshops, and extraordinary weekend classes for children.
