La Lagunilla

  • Address: Libertad, between República de Chile and Calle Allende, Col. Centro, Mexico City

Fodor's Review:

The enormous market La Lagunilla has been a site for local trade and bartering for more than five centuries. The day to go is Sunday, when flea-market and antiques stands are set up outside, selling everything from antique paintings and furniture to old magazines and plastic toys. Dress down and watch out for pickpockets; it's known affectionately as the Thieves' Market—local lore says you can buy back on Sunday what was stolen from your home Saturday.
