El Bajío Review

Vivacious Carmen "Titita" Ramírez—a culinary expert who has been featured in various U.S. food magazines—attracts crowds of Mexican families and tourists to the Polanco offshoot of her famous restaurant. (The original is in the out-of-the-way, working-class neighborhood of Colonia Obrero Popular.) The labor-intensive 30-ingredient mole de Xico is a favorite; also excellent are empanadas de plátano rellenos de frijol (tortilla turnovers filled with bananas and beans) and crab tamales. The atmosphere is a little sleeker and more modern than the original, but still colorful and strewn with artwork. There's also a branch in the Parque Delta Shopping Center in Colonia Navarte just south of Colonia Roma.
