Part metro stop, part college-dorm commons, part pulqueria, and part debating society, La Hija de los Apaches is the capital's sloppiest gem. Run by 1950s national middleweight boxing champion and folk hero Epiphanio Pifas' Leyva, this upstairs loft (technically in Doctores but really part of Roma/Insurgentes) serves beer and pulque to a young, intellectual crowd who loves to sing and dance to the excellent jukebox of punk and local guacapunk classics. If you want a rowdy afternoon (the bar is usually closed by 10, and always closed on Tuesday), this is the place to go.
