If you like tamales, this is the place. This small, unassuming restaurant serves up delicious tamales, with recipes from all over the country. There are tamales wrapped with corn husks—the rajas con queso—or the poblano chile with cheese also is delicious. There are also tamales prepared in banana leaves. The recipe from Chiapas which includes green olives, almonds, prunes, egg, red pepper, chicken, and mole is exceptional. Many of these varieties of tamales are hard to come by in other areas of the city. Be sure to get in early, especially on weekends, because the restaurant does sometimes run out of their most popular tamales, even early in the day, because tamales make a wonderful breakfast.
