Fodor's Review:

The former ambassador to China was so impressed by El Dragón's lacquered Beijing duck that he left behind a note of recommendation (now proudly displayed on one of the restaurant's walls) praising it as the most authentic in Mexico. The duck is roasted over a fruitwood fire and later brought to your table, where the waiter cuts it into thin, tender slices. Hailing from the Beijing region, the cooks like to mix it up with sweet and spicy sauces like that used in the delicious spicy sesame chicken dish.

Disappointing experience

El Dragón seems to have had better years. For Mexico City, the prices are not cheap. Lackluster old-school Chinese fare that scrimps on ingredients. Shrimp dishes, for example, use the frozen variety. We did not try the duck, which came recommended, however we were dismayed when our dish of eggplant in garlic sauce arrived with more potatoes than eggplant. Although the waiter was highly apologetic about this unfortunate experience, the owner quickly disappeared into the kitchen. The owner's wife offered a pathetic refund of $2. I would never return to this restaurant, and I am surprised by this kind of deceptive behavior from a restaurant that is so highly reviewed.
