If you're in town on a Tuesday, stop by Avenida Pachuca, where vendors set up an inviting outdoor market, the Mercado Sobre Ruedas, between Avenida Veracruz and Juan de la Barrera, from 9 to 5. Although there are many markets to visit in Mexico, this one is particularly clean and peaceful, since it's set up in a relaxed neighborhood. All tables are draped in pink plastic tablecloths, and identical cloths are hung above the tables for shade; on a sunny day the predominance of pink can be strikingly gorgeous. Vendors here sell everything from children's clothes, pirated CDs, and ceramic pots to produce, fresh flowers, and take-away food. Sometimes music groups wander between the stalls, singing and strumming their guitars for tips.
