The glowing reputation of this Polish restaurant shone even brighter after people got word that the establishment had served Pope John Paul II on several of his visits to Mexico City. Settle in with starters of blini with herring paste and cucumber, dill, and cream salad, as Chopin's polonaises trill in the background. The star of the menu is a crispy, oven-baked duck stuffed with bitter apple and blueberries. Or try the roasted pork with plums and applesauce. The generous Degustación del Papa (Pope's Menu) includes small portions of various entrées served to the pope and is only $21. Colonia Nápoles is south of La Condesa and La Roma, so the best bet is to take a sitio taxi.

The service could be better...

The food is ok but the service could be a lot better. It'sne of several restaurant that broke apart from the original Mazurka restaurant from Bosques de las Lomas, and not necessarily the best amongst them. We got two different waiters (the first's shift ended halfway through out lunch) and the second waiter was quite rude.

My ratings refer to the new one in Providencia #806.
The original owner and chef that served the pope are no loner at the old address in Nueva York. The right place to go is in Colonia del Valle and is now named Polak or "Rincon Polaco". This restaurant has always been family affair, meaning the family that made the Mazurka Tick are no longer there, for reasons that are more complex than this short space merits, the place to go is now the POLAK. Far from what any one visiting the city for a short while can tell you lies my opinion. And it is this, I have been going to this place for a good 20+ years, and you would be I'll advised to go anywhere else for Polish food.
It takes more than an ocassional visit to the city of the gods from a tourist to tell which is the best place for a certain type of food

Who would have thought Polish-Mexican?

The only Polish restaurant in a city of 26 million. A great quaint small out of the way restaurant. Once served as caterer for the Polish Pope. The 20+ course dinner for about $24.00 US was wonderful and fun (not as overwhelming as it sounds). Spend some time enjoying your dinner and music. I still haven't figured out where they found a Goose to roast in Mexico City; but they did. Take a taxi and ask the maitre'd to call a taxi for your return trip so you are not pressed for time.
