Open every day about 10-5, the bustlingMercado Artesanal La Ciudadela bursts with the widest range of wares and the best bargains in the capital. Browse through the crafts, from Talavera pottery, leather belts, guitars, tile-framed mirrors, hammocks, silverware, and papier-mâché skeletons to rugs, trays from Olinalá, and the ubiquitous sombrero. Prices are better than at most other crafts markets, but you can still haggle. A number of casual restaurants serve up hearty set-menu lunches for $3-$5. Covered stalls take up a whole square, a 10-15-minute walk from the Alameda.
