Shopping in Manzanillo leaves much to be desired—namely decent shops. Most resort hotels offer a small selection of folk art and beachwear, and there are souvenir shops around the main square and in Plaza Manzanillo, a shopping center on the coast road between Santiago and Manzanillo. The main market, Mercado Municipal, is downtown at Cuauhtémoc and Independencia. The newest shopping center is Plaza Salagua, with a Soriana department store and other shops. It's on Boulevard Miguel de la Madrid. Most shops are closed from 2 to 4; many are open Sunday from 10 to 2.
