Cabo Azul Resort
Cabo Azul Resort Review
A relative newcomer on the beach in San José del Cabo, the exceptional Cabo Azul is still partially under construction, but you would never know it. Azul seems destined to be one of Los Cabos' top hotels, with the gorgeous Javier's Cantina & Grill in full operation. A Euro-style nightclub/lounge is planned for later in 2008. This hotel-and-time-share hybrid, despite the sophistication and elegance, has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with spacious one- to three-bedroom villas and over a dozen giant penthouses. You'll find that most of the action is centered on the giant asymmetrical pool, with a swim up bar, and adjacent Flor de Noche Restaurant & Lounge.

Cabo Azul is a time share not a 4 star hotel, and this comes across loud and clear - the clientele are not what one would typically find at a 4 star hotel. Cabo Azul is offering deep discounts to attract potential owners and it shows.
Front desk staff were barely courteous and unresponsive to concerns I raised regarding privacy issues - i.e., a surprise visit by housekeeping turndown service at 9:40 pm when I was fast asleep - (imagine being awakened by all the lights turned on and finding someone in your room and two other incidents that left me feeling uneasy and my privacy invaded.
I booked here because of Fodor's recommendation which I now note is quite old, written when Cabo Azul first opened. Fodors should be recommending hotels NOT time shares.
The restaurant food was marginal at best.
I feel I've been had - by Fodors, whom I've trusted for decades.
My stay was unlike any experience I've had in other 4 star properties.
