Everything's new here at Jacques Chretien's popular bistro. They've undergone a restaurant name change, from French Riviera to merely "JC," and also raised the roof, literally, and added a second floor. If you liked the French Riviera before, you'll love JC all the more, since their view of El Arco and Land's End Rocks is greatly improved. The restaurant is upstairs, and the lounge-bar remains on the ground floor. The menu is airy and eclectic: a spinach, egg, and bacon burrito could be breakfast, and lunch and dinner might consist of a gourmet pizza, Cajun chicken salad, or sushi. For a special treat, ask the restaurant to pack you a picnic meal that you can bring with you to the beach. Though the dinner menu changes every day, look for braised red snapper with Provençale gratin potatoes and zucchini in a basil reduction. Finish with melted chocolate cake with pear puree or strawberries napoleon.
