Cactus gardens surround this low-lying hotel, one of the originals in what has become a lineup of massive all-inclusives along the beach. As a result of the hurricane that slammed the southern tip of Baja several years ago, the Presidente went through extensive renovations and has bounded back, and is operating at full capacity. There's a friendly, old-world Mexican attitude among the staff members, many of whom have been here for decades. Each of the hotel's three sections is centered on pools and lounging areas, and the ground-floor rooms, which have terraces, are the best. All accommodations have showers but no bathtubs. The quietest rooms were once next to the estuary, but noise from construction on the nearby Puerto los Cabos development, which is slated to be in the works through 2008, can now be a problem. Try Napa, the property's top restaurant, part of the resort's all-inclusive plan.

Just spent a week there from March 12 and enjoyed every minute. Rooms were good and I loved our view of the adult pool in the quiet area and the estuary beyond that. I agree with the good reviews and as for the bad reviews, I notice they were sometime ago, maybe they should try it again or maybe some people are just very hard to please. The food was very good--plentiful, lots of variety and tasty. Lots of fresh fruit at breakfast. I found the grounds were well maintained with green grass and lots of cactus gardens. The beach is great for walking and watching the big waves. I would go back there anytime-in fact I can't wait to go again. San Jose del Cabo is a very nice older town. The resort is as good as any I have stayed at. I do a lot of cruises also and it was as good as any of the cruises on Carnival,Norwegian or Holland America. Lots of fountains around the resort also with open inner courtyards.
