Ready for a floor show along with your tortas? Listen for the blaring Beatles' tunes, then watch Javier don his tattered Beatles wig and strum his battered, two-stringed ukulele to "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." You've found Gordo's tiny sidewalk stand. Javier's tacos and tortas (sandwiches) are made with loving care, and his fans are loyal enough to chow down on their feet, as there are only two small plastic tables by the stand. You can have two or three ham-and-cheese tortas for the price of one anywhere else.

We first made the trek to see Gordo at a back-home neighbour's insistance a few years ago. We were wowed. Just got back from Cabo this morning. Our fried ham and cheese and Gordo's belting out of both Beatles and Satchmo were one of the highlights of our trip. Look for him about 6 doors north of the Shrimp Factory on Boulevard Marina and Vicente Guerrero.

We've been coming here for 10 years and always have tortas for lunch at Gordo Lele's stand. They are the best!, made with fresh bread, meat, avocados and optional grilled peppers. We often get the tortas wrapped to go as well. Javier is a sweet man and quite the entertainer. These mealtimes make for great photos and memories! His shop is up the street from the Giggling Marlin: north of the Matamoros/Lazaro Cardenas intersection on Matamoros, near the Hotel Milagros.
