Top tequila tasting is big in Los Cabos. You can get a cheap shot of Cuervo for as little as 70¢, at the Crazy Lobster in Cabo San Lucas or pay as much as $50 or $60 a shot for the top Romanza or Milagro anejo tequilas across the street at Pancho's Restaurant & Tequila Museum. There's an unbelievable difference in the tastes as you'll quickly discover; the inexpensive tequilas are just this side of firewater, and the latter resemble heavenly cognac, with a little bit of a kick. Tequila tasting is fun, although a tad expensive. You can enjoy a knowledgeable and tasty lesson at Pancho's for about $50. But if you like free stuff, head to the small, fun, and friendly Antigua Los Cabos Museum and Store in San José del Cabo, next to the town's main plaza (Boulevard Mijares 5), where sampling tequilas and other liquors is gratis though still informative.
