Safety

Safety

Although the Los Cabos area is one of the safest in Mexico, it's still important to be aware of your surroundings and to follow normal safety precautions. In Los Cabos, pickpocketing and petty thievery are usually the biggest concerns.

Be more vigilant in border areas and larger cities, where purse-snatching, pickpocketing, and hotel room thefts are more common. In Tijuana, Rosarito, and Ensenada, violent crime can be an issue, though authorities are taking steps to minimize your risk.

Distribute your cash, credit cards, and IDs between a deep front pocket, an inside jacket pocket, and a hidden money pouch. Don't carry more money in your wallet than you plan on spending for the day or evening. And, most importantly, leave your passport behind, with your other valuables, in your in-room safe.
