The sidewalk café at the Tropicana Bar and Grill, near Plaza Mijares, is a favorite tourist hangout. Walk around to the back to see the gardens and the lovely indoor restaurant. It was once a 19th-century home, as were many of the buildings in San José del Cabo.

My husband, teenage son and I had a delicious lunch at the Tropicana. I had an avacado stuffed with crab and shrimp, my husband had a steak sandwich and my son had a wonderful seafood pasta. The pasta was perhaps the best dish we had on our entire vacation. They also serve more traditional Mexican food. Staff was very friendly. We are looking forward to going back.
