Local architect Enrique Zozaya has created an unlikely rustic-luxury property with this six-suite boutique hotel nestled almost undetectably into the hills above Bahía Zihuatanejo. It's as if Gilligan won the lottery—which you may need to do to stay here for any length of time. An open-air palapa suite is surrounded by six air-conditioned units, all exquisitely appointed with furnishings and decorations of elemental stone, ceramic, and wood. Four of the rooms have their
own private infinity pools, and there's also a small central pool for common use. The emphasis on tranquillity prohibits intrusive technology: there aren't any TVs, radios, or sound systems.

We just returned from our honeymoon at the Amuleto, and unfortunatley, tranquility was not what we experienced. Their is a large construction project going on right below the hotel, and you will be awaken by jackhammers, buzz saws and a bob cat scooping up rocks from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm every day. The rooms are very nice, but with the mosquito problem they have at night, it is impossible to sleep without having the doors closed at night. Even with
the doors closed, we had to douse ourselves with the provided bug spray and cover up with the mosquito net each night, just to keep the bites to a minimum. Also, you will know whenever anyone is using water in the other suites, as the pipes will make a nice squealing sound all day and night. In suite number 1, you will also hear the traffic from the road just below the room. The rooms are very attractive, but the open air design allows for many intrusions from real solitude. When we brought up these issues to Ricardo (the owner), he acted surprised, and just stated that some things are out of his control. No compensation or apologies were ever offered. The service is 5 star all the way, from the room service, to the restaurant, we have never had better service! Our room was cleaned any time we left, and the floral decorations at night were amazing. The views from this hotel are breathtaking as well. The included breakfast is great, with plenty of variety and the staff was always willing to make changes when ever requested. We can't say enough about how great the service was, especially Lucio! If you are hoping to get away and relax, I would make sure that the construction is completed before booking, but from what we heard, it will last throughout the year. Even then, the many other issues make this site not worth the $.
