Bicycle and Scooter Travel

Most scooter rental places charge $25–$35 a day, or $8–$11 per hour, depending on the vehicle's make and age. One of the most reliable rental outfits is Rentadora Ma José, where rentals start at $10 per hour or $25 per day (9 am–5 pm) or $35 for 24 hours. You can also rent bicycles on Isla, but keep in mind that it's hot here and the roads have plenty of speed bumps. Don't ride at night, as many roads don't have streetlights. Pelicano's Bike Rental (formerly David's) offers bikes starting at $10 per day for beaters and $18 per day for fancy three-speeds. Most bike rental companies don't provide helmets or safety reflectors, so it might be wise to pack a headlamp or flashlight if there's a possibility you might ride after dark. Make sure your bike comes with a lock to keep it from wandering off. Scooters and golf carts are the most popular modes of transportation on Isla.
