Fodor's Review

This small hotel is a perennial favorite, with its rooms surrounding a pleasant courtyard and outfitted with double beds, bamboo furniture, and refrigerators. Some rooms have kitchenettes and those on the top floors have ocean views. The Magaña family takes great care to maintain the property—signs everywhere remind you to save electricity and keep noise to a minimum. Great rates mean few amenities, so don't expect free bath products or beach towels during your stay.

(Full payment is due upon arrival—cash only—and refunds are only given with 30 days' advance notice.) Playa Norte is a few blocks north, and downtown is a block away. This is one of the few hotels that can accommodate wheelchairs.

Francis Arlene is past her prime

The owners are friendly but this hotel needs a serious overhaul. The location is great and the price is low, but the rooms are very shabby and not cleaned really well. I was the only one in the entire hotel a few nights. Very unsettling.
